Be profitable and sustainable over time, within a sector of the real economy, pursuing the personal, professional and economic growth of those involved and the community.
We are excellence in production and marketing of Walnut nuts, oriented to the local market and export. Giving importance to the development of the human group involved and their environment.
We run a family business dedicated to walnut production. Our farm is located in Mendoza, Valle de Uco, Argentina. Our main activity is to harvest, process, pack and store “Chandler Walnut”, to sell on to international and local clients.
Our estate has the total of 72 hectares, of which 66.5 are planted. Our orchard has been grafted with Chandler variety and a Cisco pollinator. They have been sowed on rows 8 meters apart, and 6 meters between plants. This planting scheme gives us 208 trees per hectare and plenty of space to use all the machinery involved in all processes.
The remaining hectares allocate housing for all people working in the orchard, plus barns holding all machinery for hulling, drying and storing the fruit.
We take care on-site of all processes involved in getting the walnut ready packed to be dispatched to our clients.
Walnuts are harvested in the fall starting at the end of March beginning of April. The harvest begins when the nuts have matured and a high percentage of nuts on the tree have split hulls, usually a small amount of nuts have already started to naturally fall to the ground.
The nuts are removed from the tree using a mechanical shaker, a machine that grasps the trunk and shakes the whole tree. The nuts drop to the ground, are then swept into windrows and picked up with harvest machinery. This operation is completed quickly to reduce the time nuts remain on the ground.
Harvested nuts are taken to a huller that removes the green hulls from the shell with wet scrubbers and dried in gas dryers for 24 hours or less (until the nuts reach 8% moisture content). When dry, the nuts are clean and dry.
We then classify them for size and weight to then store in 400kg bags, avoiding pests. Once we sell them, we can package and dispatch to clients requirements.
We have achieved a 51% performance calibrating and hand selecting our produce.
